This year marks 10 years of business for Liondell, an important milestone which has given us the opportunity to reflect on where we started, what we’ve achieved and where we are going next.
Liondell began as a one-person operation, which has developed into a business built around supporting customers through the complexities of injection mould tooling projects.
Over the past decade, our focus has remained on combining technical expertise with professional project management, clear communication and a commitment to deliver quality results in every project we work on.

Why was Liondell founded?
The purpose of Liondell was formed through our founder’s experience working within the tooling industry. An opportunity was spotted to bring together engineering expertise and professional communication under a structured approach to managing injection mould tooling projects.
Maintaining an organised and client-focused system was the priority from the beginning, with one of the first major projects to get Liondell running was the building of a bespoke database where projects can be easily and accurately tracked.
Equally important was the freedom to develop the business around values that mattered to us most: quality in everything we do and customer care.
Beginning from a one-man operation
Like many businesses, Liondell was not all plain sailing.
The beginning period of the business had it’s own challenges- establishing and developing a customer base is not an easy feat. Once momentum was gained however, it provided greater confidence in our offering. Things rarely go to plan, but persistence and initiative paid off.
Over time, this persistence has helped Liondell develop relationships with customers, some of which have continued from the company’s early years, which we are very proud of.
Reaching 10 years of business operations is a reflection of the trust customers have placed in Liondell, and the work that has gone into maintaining that trust.
It hasn’t just been about technical expertise
We’ve learned that successful tooling projects don’t just depend on technical knowledge alone.
The way a project is managed matters just as much as a mould tool that performs as intended.
Responding promptly, maintaining a transparent workflow with clients, respecting client confidentiality and most importantly treating everyone we come into contact with how we would like to be treated are the important parts of the service we aim to provide.
Being a family business, we are guided by a similar philosophy and culture. Rather than settling for ‘good enough’ results, we aim to make decisions that support the most reliable and practical outcomes for our customers.
The family behind the business
As Liondell has developed, so has the opportunity to involve family in the business and support others in their professional development as well as sharing knowledge and experience gained through years in the plastics industry.
For us, building a business has been about more than winning projects or developing systems. It has been about creating an environment where experience and pride in creating quality outcomes can be passed on.
Of course, it hasn’t been all work and no play. Building our own company has also given us the freedom to shape our workplace culture, including making time for the occasional round of golf together.
What’s ahead in the next 10 years?
A decade is a great milestone for reflection but also to look forward at what we can improve and strive for.
One of our priorities is continuing to improve the systems that support our customers and the way their projects are managed.
We’re currently developing plans to further develop a bespoke engineering management system that will improve the experience of our customers and further streamline our project management.
We also intend to strengthen our relationships with overseas manufacturing partners and continue developing our capabilities in plastic product design, supporting customers earlier in the development process with tooling and manufacturability in mind.
Some things in business are unpredictable. What we aim to improve are the practical ways we can make the tooling process more transparent and effective.

Thank You for 10 years
We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built and the projects we’ve supported over the past decade.
We’re looking forward to the next 10 years where we can continue our focus on quality results and improving the way we work.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of Liondell’s first 10 years. Here’s to the next chapter.
