We use our Chinese toolmaking partners to make rapid tooling in 3-4 weeks depending on the size and complexity of parts required.
As much as feasibly possible, we try to replicate the production process by designing split lines and cooling to be production representative.
Tooling can be made from P20 or Aluminium grades depending on the application. Occasionally we will design ‘loose core’ moulds where slides are replaced by loose hand-loaded blocks which are ejected with the part. This type of mould helps to keep costs low and lead times less.
All prototype sample runs will be supported in China by a Liondell Project Manager with over 10 years of experience in tooling management and supplier liaison. It is essential that parts are packaged and dispatched correctly and with care. Our manager makes sure that this is the case. Liondell labels are added to the boxes and sent via our own DHL account if the client has not made other arrangements.
